Low Impact Fitness Exercise (YEAR ROUND): Low impact fitness has been recommended by sports physicians across the nation for those wishing a safer workout. The stress to joints is greatly reduced by an avoidance of the jumping, pounding movements of the past. All sessions are open to everyone, male or female. The class will feature a gentle warmup, floor exercise and a low impact style workout. L.I.F.E. will be taught by Vicki Ebbing, a certified instructor, who has taught exercise classes for the Quincy Park District for 29 years. R.I.S.E. - Resistance Increasing Strength Exercise (YEAR ROUND): The American College of Sports Medicine and the Department of Health and Human Services recommend that Americans engage in strength training exercises at least two days each week. Strength training with resistance bands has unique benefits because the bands are portable and simple to use.
R.I.S.E. (Resistance Increasing Strength Exercise) is a fitness class that focuses on increasing strength and flexibility for the participants. We will be using resistance bands along with other routines to achieve this goal. This is class is for those who are looking for a more vigorous workout than the Park District's other fitness offerings. The class is led by Diane Giesing who has taught our summer L.I.F.E. sessions.

Tai Chi (YEAR ROUND) :Although it is an old form of exercise, Tai Chi meets the needs of contemporary populations that struggle with stress and other health issues. Some of the benefits received by those who practice Tai Chi regularly are weight loss, improved balance, increased flexibility, increased focus, natural relaxation, increased strength, and improved joint function. Studies have shown that those who practice Tai Chi regularly have increased brain activity and a lower risk of dementia development. Tai Chi has also been attributed to decrease the risk of heart failure when practiced regularly.
This will be a beginner level class that will focus on the 24 forms of Tai Chi. The class will be taught by Vicki Ebbing who has been leading classes for the Quincy Park District for the past 30 years.
Tai Chi is also referred to as moving meditation and is the perfect follow up to the Yoga 101 class that we will have immediately before this class at 10:15am. The same punch card can be used for both classes. Both classes will move outdoors during the warmer months.

Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound (SUMMER): Get out this summer for some exercise with a four legged friend. The Quincy Park District and Quincy Humane Society are teaming up to bring you Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound. The Quincy Humane Society will bring a group of dogs to Moorman/Wavering Park that could use a walk and a good friend. The dog walkers are free to roam the park with their canine counterparts until the 10:30 AM meeting time back at the original drop off location. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times. AGES: 15+ Program is free but you must register online or contact the Business Office.
June 8 - August 10, 2017 (Thursday): 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Yoga (YEAR ROUND): Yoga will be taught by Vicki Ebbing, a certified yoga instructor, who has taught exercise classes for the Quincy Park District for 29 years. This beginners class will be directed at students new to yoga or those who have not practiced recently. Classes will be catered to the ability levels of those students in attendance. Students will be taught proper alignment and form which will lead to improved fitness levels, balance and individual well-being. As students progress, they will be taught more advanced techniques including Vinyasa flow, which challenges students even more.
When weather permits, Yoga will be held outdoors in Kesler Park on the deck near the restrooms. A sign will be posted on the door at the regular meeting location on days when class will be in Kesler Park.
Sunset Yoga(Spring/Summer): Sunset Yoga will take place at the Clat Adams Park gazebo, Front and Hampshire starting April 3 at 6:45 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The times on the classes will change monthly according to the time of the sunset as the days get longer and shorter. Classes will be designed for beginners so that all abilities can take part. In the case of inclement weather, class will be cancelled.
A 10-class punch card is available for purchase, $40, and must be picked up at our office located at 1231 Bonansinga Dr. AGES: 16+
Zumba Fitness (YEAR ROUND): Zumba is a dance-fitness class that combines Latin and International music and dance moves. The combination of music and movement creates a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness program. New to the Park District is Zumba Step, held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Zumba Step is perfect for those who are looking to feel the burn. Looking to strengthen and tone up your legs and glutes? Step right up! Participants must register and obtain your 10-class punch card for $50 at the Quincy Park District office, 1231 Bonansinga Dr. between 8- 5 p.m., Mon.-Fri. Punch cards will not be available to purchase at class. Participants must have their card to enter class.(No exceptions). AGES: 16+
Aqua Zumba® (SUMMER): Aqua Zumba® is a low-impact, high energy aquatic exercise class that blends the Zumba® philosophy with water resistance. Thus, creating a workout that provides less impact on your joints. The water creates natural resistance which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles. This class takes place at Indian Mounds Pool and Zumba Punch Cards are used to attend. Zumba Punch Cards may be purchased at the Quincy Park District business office at 1231 Bonansinga Dr. AGES: 18+

North Quincy Sports Night: The Quincy Park District and Grandview Church are partnering together to offer North Quincy Sports Night!
North Quincy Sports Night is a FREE program offered to youth in Quincy that offers a safe fun place to hang out and have fun! The gym is available for shooting hoops and pick up games of basketball. We also have a separate room that will have board/card games, coloring, jumbo sized Jenga and staff members available for playing organized group games.
It is held every Thursday while school is in session from 5:30-7:00pm in the Grandview Church Gym located on the corner of 10th and Spruce. All that is needed to participate is a signed waiver from a parent or guardian. Register on site when North Quincy Sports Night is in session from 5:30-7:00pm.
